Sign Inventory & Inspection Study
As signs become a more important litigation issue, a properly maintained road sign inventory is essential. MasterMind can take take away the headache of gathering and inputting your sign inventory probably at a lower cost than using your own staff. MasterMind's trained road personnel have been performing this study since 1989. This study can be customized to gather as little or as much information as you desire.
An unbiased inspection of each sign can also be performed on site and any problems logged. We DO NOT log the condition (good, fair, poor) of a sign. Think about it - you really don't need a sign in your inventory marked 'POOR'. If a sign requires maintenance, a work item is created stating corrective measures needed - saving you the trouble of having to go back out and see what the problem is.
MasterMind can also collect the retroreflectivity of your signs using the latest, most accurate technology available.
MasterMind can collect the following information on each sign in your agency:
- Sign Code
- Sign verbiage (if not standard MUTCD sign)
- Mile point of the sign in relation to the control points of the road
- Side of the road the sign is on
- Direction sign faces
- Check sign height from the road surface for compliance with minimum height spec
- Measure the size of the sign
- Sheeting type
- Blank type
- Install Date (if marked)
- Post type
- Post breakaway type
- Illumination or beacons
- Perform a visual inspection of the sign, the post, and the breakaway. Any problems are logged.
- Shoot the retroreflectivity of the legend (where applicable) and background
- Record the number of signs mounted on the post
- Place a serialized number label on the back of the sign (personalized for your agency)(Call for a sample label)
This detailed inventory can be quoted to include a copy of the popular MasterMind® SignMaster 6TM Sign Management module for our Traffic Safety Suite 6TM software. All sign information will be loaded into the software for you. An inspection record is created for each sign showing the date of the inspection and whether work is needed. Work orders will also be created when needed - ready for you to prioritize work and schedule maintenance crews.
You now have in place a comprehensive, accurate inventory of your signs with an inspection record of each sign along with work items of work needed to bring your sign inventory up to par.
